Questions We are Frequently Asked about the Germany Tour
Tell me more about the famous Medicine Week Congress in Baden-Baden. This year is the 42nd Medicine Week in Baden-Baden, Germany. It is billed as Europe's biggest physicians’ congress for complementary medicine. You will be able to visit the “huge industry exhibition with interesting products” – truly an education in its own right where you will see everything from acupuncture needles to top quality Germany BioResonance devices. This year
our primary purpose for attending Medicine Week - instead of switching to the
huge MEDICA Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, is the homeopathic and remedy companies.
Here is where you can see them all, make contacts and find test sets. What makes this tour unique from other travel tours? As modern travelers we have many decisions to make: Where to travel? When to travel? With whom to travel? But what about, how to travel? Everyone has their own style and preferences for how to travel, but many are unaware of a small but unique aspect of the travel market: educational travel. This is not for those who insist they want to travel on their own. Instead this is group travel, but with a key difference. Accompanied by Institute staff members (or study leaders as some companies call them), the group has access to people and places not normally accessible to the traveler on their own. Occidental Institute has created these special travel programs for our members. Among other things, we will take you to the famous Medicine Week (and gain you access to the exhibit areas normally restricted to MD’s). Private lectures in English have been arranged to present the latest research and information (often the same lectures they are presenting in German at the Medicine Week itself). Although many educational itineraries may look similar to what a standard tour operator would offer – go to Germany and see Frankfurt, Baden-Baden, the beautiful German countryside, and drink good German beer – here is how educational travel can differ. Instead of local tour guides, the Institute staff takes you to destinations where we have in-depth knowledge and special contacts that can open doors for our participants and you will get full lectures on topics you can bring back and apply in your medical practice immediately. While it may be more expensive than traveling on your own, here are some of the many benefits of joining our private educational tour program: l Experienced experts with inside contacts have arranged lodging and meals, so you are guaranteed accommodations in reputable hotels and meals at the best restaurants. l With a carefully pre-arranged itinerary, there is maximum time available to participate in lectures and the Medicine Week exhibits, without spending valuable time on more mundane travel administrative duties. l On the best educational tour programs like those of OIRF (and that does sometimes mean the most expensive), all costs are included, eliminating concerns over tipping, transfers to and from airports, negotiating with private guides, even choosing what to read before leaving home for the best background information. l The opportunity to meet and converse with other like-minded medical professionals from around the world who share your interest in biological and alternative medicine.
l
On top of all this is that prime educational tour element –
English lectures from top German experts while being led by experienced
knowledgeable staff. Will I have to share a sleeping room with another person? For Tour #35 we have returned to the previous format of shared (twin) accommodations for all participants. This reduces our costs, and thus your final tour fees. After the deadline, Elaine and I will play "match-maker" and pair you up with someone of the same gender that we think will be compatible. If you
feel you do not wish to share a room, please submit the additional CDN $300 with
your deposit and we will be sure to reserve a single room for you. Limited
number of single rooms available. Are all meals included in this tour price? Yes, all
meals (breakfast, lunch and supper) are included in the tour price Monday
through Saturday with the exception of three meals. Note that beverages
are not included and you will be asked to pay for your own beverages at the end
of each meal. I’m a vegetarian. Will I find proper food to eat? Special
dietary requirements like vegan or kosher are not available. We always arrange
for a small selection of dishes at each meal which usually includes one
fish/chicken/meat plate (usually no pork) and one vegetarian plate. Most
vegetarians will be happy with the meals, but may occasionally have to relax
their requirements a bit. German food is traditionally very rich and very meaty! Can I come early or stay longer than the tour? Yes, of
course. If you are arriving early into Munich, or staying a few days longer,
just let us know and we can extend your reservations at our hotel (usually at
our special group rate prices). I want to do some sightseeing on the way. Will there be time? Not really. Please understand that this is a full educational program and we will be keeping you busy. You will have 2½+ days in Baden-Baden (see planned schedule on full tour information page) and I’m sure you will find time for a little shopping and “Kaffee und Kuchen” at a local pastry shop. We will also be taking you on a Munich city tour on Friday afternoon, but beyond this you are going to be involved in scheduled activities. Want to do some serious sightseeing – come a few days early or stay a few days afterwards!
