INFORMATIONAL RELEASE
Tuesday, September 8, 2009 Dear Non-Member Colleagues and Friends of OIRF: ? What a summer it has been in our beautiful Okanagan Valley! I must say that we have enjoyed our summer “slowdown” hours this year but with Labor Day behind us the busy fall schedule kicks in. Our thanks go out to those members who took advantage of our “Hot Summer Savings” programs and endeavored to keep Elaine and I busy during these lazy, hazy, crazy – and very hot – days. But what I especially remember about this summer is our terrible forest fires (many still raging here in BC) from which we fortunately remain safe and secure. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of our members, colleagues and friends who live in the many other areas of our world including Taiwan, California, Baja Cal. Mexico, Java Indonesia and Greece that have suffered from recent natural disasters. ? Volume 5, Issue #4 of “The Bridge” newsletter has been completed and sent out to all 2009 members by e-mail. I have translated two articles from recent German journals that will gives some interesting information about and from two doctors who will be speaking to us on the forthcoming Germany Tour #36. The first one is by Dr. med. Manfred Doepp, “About the Use of the Heart Rate Variability as a Therapy Prognosis Method”, and the second is by Dr. med. Hans-Peter Friedrichsen, about “The Importance of Micronutrients for Cerebral Function”. I am looking forward to meeting both of these doctors later this year and you can see more information about them in the information for the tour and in the forthcoming newsletter. As well there is another great article from OIRF Advisor Dr. Anthony (Tony) Scott-Morley about “Tuning the MORA to the Individual, or the Individual Setting”. Along with our usual columns like Points of Interest and WebWatch this is already building up towards one of the best issues of this membership year. Watch your e-mail Inbox for your copy. ? But, speaking about e-mail let me get this announcement out of the way before I lose your totally undivided attention [I know this is a long letter this time and that your time is limited – so, please if you are busy now, consider taking this home with you tonight to look through these many important announcements and advisories. Thanks. CLWS] The Institute is going electronic. In other words you will now receive the newsletter by e-mail. That means you no longer have to wait the two or three weeks it takes to print, process, mail and deliver each issue. You will have the information as soon as we get it down on paper. “The Bridge” itself is not changing. It will look exactly the same, but you will receive it in PDF format and open it with a mouse-click or keystroke (all you need is Adobe Reader which you can download for free from the web). You can then print it and, of course, it will be a snap to keep each issue stored on your computer for future reference. From this
issue forward, all members will receive their newsletters by We have been setting up our e-mail lists over the summer and have sent several messages to you (June 3/09, Germany Tour finalized; June 29/09, Issue #3 and Germany Tour; July 13/09, Hot Summer Savings; and, Aug. 10/09, more summer savings). Did you receive those mailings? If you did receive them everything is working just fine and you had a few opportunities to save some big bucks on instrumentation orders. If you did not receive those announcements or the newsletter, please contact Elaine as soon as possible to make sure we have your e-mail address correctly recorded. We will always put “OIRF” in the subject line to let you know it is from us. But quite frankly, this move is not just about getting our information to you faster. It is a serious cost saving measure for us. Postage, printing, envelopes, labels, staff time for folding, stuffing and sealing, and so on when combined with an overall loss of readership due to the economic times have taken their toll. Like every other print publication and non-profit in either Canada or the US we are trying to figure out how to survive and how to move into the Internet age. By the end of this year when membership renewals come due, we will phase out regular mail delivery as much as possible. We will do our best to lower our annual membership dues and those who want to continue to receive their newsletters via regular mail will be able to do so – but at a higher price. If you encounter any problems with the e-mail delivery simply contact Elaine at our office and we will make necessary changes and repairs immediately. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this part of our transition. ? Registrations for the Germany Tour have been coming in surprisingly quickly over the summer months. We are already past the halfway mark with confirmed registrations. Several other doctors have called to reserve a place and we will hold those for about 7 days until their application deposits can be received.
This is
going to be such an exciting tour. In recent mailings I’ve babbled on about
the full day of official English language lectures at the Medicine Week
Congress. Please follow this link
www.oirf.com/Tours/Germany36 for full information on our tour package
and the names of the various speakers. An abbreviated version of that
information is also enclosed with this letter. Our Med-Week program is now
also listed on the official Med-Week website at:
www.medwoche.de/index.php?id=36&day=4&lvl=3,14,Vortragsveranstaltung&pid=2715
The arranged speakers are all highly qualified and will provide true inspiration for all practitioners – from students to the experts. This program will provide you with the information, and the vision, you need to implement these methods into your own practice. But this year there is so much available to you outside of the official programs, and you have more freedom to wander the exhibits at the Congress House (and escape to the baths – shh!).
Best of all,
don’t forget that most of our own Board of Advisors will be with us on this
program. Four of them (Drs. MacCoy, Dhanani, Gruba and Yu) will be speaking
during the Med-Week program and will be available to you evenings and bus
rides for conversation and discussion. Often these (late) night discussions
(that usually include a
good German beer or two) are the highlight of the tour. And the food is good
too . . . Here are the leading doctors in our field who have the experience and the expertise – and you have the opportunity to sit and talk with them in an informal and unhurried manner. We will even get to drive along the Rhine River and see more castles than you can imagine! The best of all possibilities! Please, if you have not already registered, make your decisions today and clear your patient schedule so that you can attend. The deadline is Friday, October 9th for receipt of your tour registrations and full funds (but for planning and reservation purposes we would sure like to hear from you sooner if possible). Again, the tour price includes all of the educational programs, single room accommodations and almost all of your meals. This is one of the best tour programs we have been able to arrange in many years, and we want to also make it one of the most successful in terms of attendance. This historic English language program at Medicine Week will not likely be repeated anytime soon, and you do not want to miss this unique opportunity. Dr. MacCoy and I already have our airfares in hand, my pre-tour rental car has been confirmed (oh boy, a chance to play on the autobahn!!) and all other details have fallen into place without a hitch (so far). All indications are that this tour program will fill quickly now that we are into the busy fall season.
¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ There are additional reasons that guided us to this decision – such as the increasingly difficult and restrictive US/Canada border crossings, high cost of gas, and the high cost of maintaining the box itself – so please bear this in mind for any postal mail you send us in the future. The mail will be forwarded to us for awhile. But, for all future postal mail please use our P.O. Box 100 in Penticton, BC Canada. You can already see this change reflected on our letterhead and on the website. ¶¶ ¶¶ ¶¶ I know – by continuing this letter I have gone way over my usual space allotment and I’m pushing your time and patience to keep reading. I’m sorry, but with all the changes that have so necessarily been made over the summer months, I am asking for your understanding while I put everything into perspective. CLWS ? And now on to our latest news. In spite of – or maybe it’s because of – our hot dry summer, we finally broke down and had new irrigation installed on the property to save Carolyn running up and down stairs and setting sprinklers. Well, guess what happened? It leaked! And then it leaked some more!! What can I say? The original portions of our building are more than 45 years old, and have been put together like little cubes here and there, and up and down. The water from one of the irrigation sprinklers made itself a fine little tunnel, seeped down the concrete retaining wall and into our so carefully protected medical office. One morning as Elaine and I were giving each other a color treatment for our aches and pains (injured back and stressed neck muscles) we noticed the problem. As small as it all looked that morning, it has become the property owner’s nightmare scenario. I won’t bore you with all the details, but Lukk (our new property manager) is very busy fully replacing two full walls, studs, drywall, some insulation, flooring, painting, and almost anything else you can imagine. We caught it early and quickly but unfortunately previous owners had not made adequate repairs in the past and we must contend with that as well. So, our medical office has been cleared out, the cabinets of remedies moved out of the way and covered (thank goodness no damage to them or the meds) and we are temporarily back to working in a construction zone. But, this has been a real eye opener. Boy, do we have a lot of stuff! I mean a whole lot of stuff. And much of it is not in use at all. It seems like such a shame. I’ve discussed it with several of my advisors and directors as well as my staff (who not only helped to move it all a few years ago but now had to move it away from the construction to safety) and it is simply time for us to have a “sale” and place many of these fantastic items into homes where they will be appreciated, loved and – most importantly – used. I am not sure whether to call it a “flood sale”, a “garage sale” or an “estate sale”, but by whatever name it is definitely time to reduce our stuff to more manageable levels [I think my Feng Shui anti-clutter campaign may have something to do with this too!] Towards that purpose we are in the process of preparing a listing of historical, older and “no longer made” instrumentation, supplies and remedies that will be offered for sale – first to our members and colleagues, and then to the general alternative medical community. Included within this sale will be the duplicate sets of all of Dr. Sturm’s homeopathic remedies. In brief, Walter said that he had more than 30,000 remedies at his seated test position. In order to obtain many of those single test remedies he had to purchase a box of five or sometimes even ten ampules (German homeopathic companies like Staufen, Wala, Heel and many others). There are many huge trunks and cases in our storage area that contain these “left over” remedies – at least three full sets and a fourth partial set. Once sorted and packaged these separate sets of homeopathic remedies will also be made available for sale. But, to finish with the “Flood/Garage/Estate Sale” items for now, I will try to give you a more detailed description of what we are selling off in the forthcoming newsletter issue. If you already know items you would like to purchase – and no, my MORA-Super is not for sale – please contact Elaine and we will put your name on the waiting list (for example the two older BEV units have already been spoken for by one of the Board of Advisors). ? Please follow the links below for information about several forthcoming seminars and conferences. All are highly recommended and you can obtain full details, registration information and pricing on their websites. For Dr. Simon Yu’s international conference on Bio-Cybernetics & Energy medicine go to www.preventionandhealing.com. For Med-Tronik’s seminar (in English or in German go to www.med-tronik.de for full information. ? The instrumentation “Features of the Month” are the MORA-Color (effective pain control); the MORA-Super Plus (Bi-Polar Bioresonance Therapy); and, the Oxygen Ion 3000 (according to Prof. Dr. Ivan Engler). Ask for “flood sale” or "back to school" pricing for a substantial member’s discount. Please watch this website for announcements, updates and notifications. Thanks for reading this far and we will be in touch again – by e-mail – soon. With all best wishes, I respectfully remain . . . Carolyn Carolyn L. And a closing chuckle from Dr. MacCoy, Government Healthcare Coverage:

rings and the lady of the house answers, “Hello”. |
