Thursday, 15 July 2010

Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends of OIRF:

?    Our thanks to the many members and colleagues who attended and participated in the recent Biological Medicine Symposium 2010 in Vancouver, BC Canada. What a fantastic weekend. We had the opportunity to see and chat with “old” friends, and were thrilled to meet our “new” colleagues and members. The atmosphere was electric with the exchange of ideas and experiences. All the sponsors were there to give us demonstrations and show us the practical application of the excellent lectures and advanced theories presented in the main meeting room. In spite of a computer glitch with my laptop preventing use of some of the important software, everything else went off without a hitch.

Did you miss this incredible program? Well, I know a lot of the ND’s were preparing for prescribing exams, and the economic recovery surely isn’t as recovered as it could be for any of us. If you were unable to join us, we do have a “transcript” book available. We included lecture notes, most of the Power Point presentations, and some summaries of the lectures – a grand total of ninety sheets of paper outlining every single lecture that was presented. Contact Elaine to order your copy today for CDN $40 each.

?    Especially if you missed the Symposium, it is definitely time for you to consider attending the Germany Tour #37. Yes, all the arrangements are in place, the dates are set for October 30 through November 5 (Saturday through Friday to take best advantage of the Medicine Week Congress schedule), and we are now accepting registrations for this 2010 tour program.

During our English language lecture day at the famous Medicine Week, we will hear 8 international lecturers including Prof. Dr. Ivan Engler, Dr. Juliane Sacher and Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrichsen. Please follow this link to see the details posted on the official

Med-Week website.

Our two keynote speakers are Prof. Dr. Hendrik Treugut (president of the DGEIM) and Prof. Dr. Roland van Wijk (vice president of the IIB in Neuss – with Dr. Fritz-Albert Popp). They will each present a private lecture to the group in a meeting room right at our hotel.

Add to this a few presentations from instrumentation firms to realize the practical application of these techniques and research. You have ample time to visit the famous Medicine Week Congress itself and already you can see we have a busy but highly educational program lined up for you.

A few personal comments: Airfares are comparatively a bit more expensive this year and many in the industry expect this to continue into 2011. It is recommended that you use an actual travel agent (a person) and get cancellation insurance – you can never tell when Volcano “E” in Iceland is going to act up! With the low Euro we have been able to get the price of the tour lower than previous years and yet maintain our high level of education, food, accommodation, transportation and ‘pampering’. The low Euro also gives you the opportunity to make larger purchases and – of course – get test sets! Personally, I’m not missing this tour for anything . . .

?    The MORA Super Plus is now registered (Licence Number 82941) in Canada as a medical device.

What more can I say? – well, being Carolyn probably quite a lot more. Some of the shock and exuberance have worn off after receiving this Health Canada notification just before our departure for the Vancouver Symposium. As the summer days drift past we are already at work under the guidance of our advisors on a business plan for the promotion and marketing of this device in Canada and the USA (not yet US FDA registered – but we are a step closer).

As I mentioned in the June announcements, we have started a sister company to OIRF that will be called Praxis2Practice for the importation and sale of the MORA Super Plus devices. Occidental Institute is a strictly regulated non-profit corporation and although we are allowed to sell these devices as a “not-for-profit fund raising activity”, now that the Super is registered it becomes a clearly commercial enterprise and thus our need for the sister company.

We hope to launch this project during September of this year, and – consider this fair warning – obviously the pricing structure for the units will make them more expensive to cover all the registration and startup costs. The pre-commercial OIRF pricing combined with current lower exchange rates makes this summer an excellent opportunity to purchase the MORA Super Plus. If you have any questions, or are looking for a price quote please contact Carolyn or Elaine at 800-663-8342.

?    For my regular remarks about exchange rates and instrumentation purchases – I can only repeat most of my comments from last month: “The Canadian and US dollars remain virtually at par. The economic crisis in Europe has heightened in recent weeks and the Euro has continued to weaken. All instrumentation prices have been lowered to reflect this change. Most predictions are that this scenario will hold ‘for awhile’.

Please contact Elaine or Carolyn for current price lists. This is an excellent time to purchase those ‘tools of your trade’ which will immediately improve the efficacy and efficiency of your current diagnostic and therapy methods.

We’re asking for your support during the long hot days of summer and we are prepared to offer you some fantastic deals. At current prices, I recommend that you take the plunge – for those items that you have been ‘waiting’ to order until the price gets better, or the dollar gets stronger, or the wind blows from the east – and get your orders in now. I haven’t seen these kinds of prices in years and I can’t imagine they will last.”

?    Updates, Reminders and Announcements:

Ø   Volume 6, Issue #4 will publish in mid-September. Watch for the regular article contribution from Dr. Anthony Scott-Morley. There will be several e-mail announcements and updates during the summer and we’ll try to negotiate some special instrumentation offers for you.

Ø   The RM-10/S EAV and Vega-type diagnostic device by Med-Tronik has been discontinued! There are still units available, and although a replacement device is planned it will not likely be out of R&D and into production within the next year. See special discounted price and order today for quick delivery.

Ø   Special member and “Exchange Rate” discounts are available to all members as long as we can hold them over the summer. See the website for details and call Elaine or Carolyn to get current price lists, quotes or to place your orders.

Ø   New Publication: Doctoral dissertation for the University of Bratislava by PaedDr. Uwe Uellendahl covering a study on the application of the MORA Color Method for the Treatment of Chronic Functional Pain of the Locomotor System. Published by Occidental Institute and introduced at the recent Biological Medicine Symposium in Vancouver. 60 pages outline the parameters and results of the study with peer reviews by Simon Yu, MD and Sir Zenon Gruba, MBBS (founder of this method). Excellent practical application and descriptions for diagnosis and therapy of functional pain. Available in printed format for CDN $50.00.

Ø   Germany Tour #37 dates are set: Saturday, October 30 to Friday, November 5, 2010. Clear your patient schedule now and plan to attend this program. See details on the Germany Tour page on our website.

That’s about it for our July news. Enjoy your summer and with all best wishes, I respectfully remain . . .

And a chuckle (a few more one-liners):
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. An onion a day should take care of everyone else.
Where do astronauts keep their spaceships? At parking meteors. [groan]
Teacher: “Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?” Donald: “HIJKLMNO.” Teacher: “What are you talking about?” Donald: “Yesterday you said it’s H to O.”
Sign at auto repair shop: Free pick up and delivery. Try us once, you’ll never go anywhere again.

And some glorious insults and great comebacks:
The exchange between Churchill and Lady Astor: She said, “If you were my husband I’d give you poison.” He said, “If you were my wife, I’d drink it!”
“I’m enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play; bring a friend . . . if you have one.” – George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill
“Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second . . . if there is one.” – Winston Churchill in response.
“Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.” – Oscar Wilde.
“He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts . . . for support rather than illumination.” – Andrew Lang.
“I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.” – Clarence Darrow.

Until next time . . . CLWS
