Thursday, 10 December 2009

Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends of OIRF:

?    A very busy time has passed since our last communication in October. Members, I am sorry but Issue #6 of the Bridge has been delayed. Rather than rush and send it out to you just before the holidays, we are going to take our time, finish it off properly and then send it out to all of you during the first week of January – when all of us are back to work and into routine.

The Germany Tour this year was very successful. We were back up to participation levels of previous years, the program went off without a hitch – AND – Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrichsen (the CEO of the Medicine Week program) has asked OIRF to arrange an official English language day for their 2010 program! Wow! I am so excited that I guess we will just have to make it happen.

The dates are set and the tour program will run from Saturday, October 30 through Friday, November 5, 2010. I have already begun to contact speakers and set a schedule for this program. Watch for details early next year. Make your plans to attend now, and join us for our 37th (!!) Biological Medicine Tour program to Germany.

?    During this recent tour four of our esteemed Board of Advisors (Dr. MacCoy, Dr. Yu, Dr. Dhanani and Dr. Gruba) presented lectures for the English language Medicine Week program and were very well received – some fifty people attended many of the sessions. I was fortunate to also have this opportunity to meet privately with my advisors during the week and after some heated but enlightening discussions, they have asked the Institute to sponsor a Symposium style conference in North America. The purpose of this Symposium is two fold. First we want to make the information and research we heard in Germany more easily available here. And second, it is time for the Institute to once again take a leading role in our “fledgling”’ biological and natural medicine industry.

Yes, I know – natural medicine has been around for millennia. But, the biological medicine methods that we have been learning and using in the past few decades are only now becoming more accessible, more acceptable and more respectable. That is where we feel some serious problems have been developing. Again, I know – even though this is politics it is important.

There are so many companies (some new and some older) out there now who are offering remedies, instrumentation and training in this field that a lot of rivalry and competitiveness has erupted in recent years. It is understandable. All of us are trying to get the information out so that more and more patients can benefit from these methods while at the same time we must support our firms and our families. Many (if not most) of these methods combine top German and European quality with high empirical effectiveness. If not already accepted by H&W Canada or the US FDA they are approved and accepted in Europe.

So why is there all this American rivalry and competitiveness in a field where it is the patients we must serve and help? And why has it been so necessary for OIRF to act as a “consumer reports” instead of the education and research aspects that are the basis of our reputation and purpose? Well, we all know there has been a lot of junk out there along with the quality. So, this Symposium is being presented as a way for many of these biological medicine companies and their proponents to come together in a spirit of unified cooperation for the purpose of education and quality information.

In the “commercial” area for this Symposium where normally there would be a couple of dozen or more big fancy booths and slick salesmen we will instead have about a dozen information tables. Here you will be able to ask your questions, see a quiet demonstration and actually talk to the people and doctors who are using these methods. Then you can make your own informed decisions and choices – the ones that will work in your own practice. BioMed from Canada (who represents SANUM for North America) and Med-Tronik from Germany (MORA) have already agreed to participate in this unique and exciting program.

We have already confirmed most of the speakers (and it is a very impressive lineup) and finalized the venue. Dr. Richard Kraßnigg (remember, he’s the president of the medical EAV society in Germany?) has been confirmed as one of two keynote speakers. Details are being prepared now and will be posted on the website within the next few days.

The dates are June 18, 19 and 20, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. This is one of the most pleasant times of the year in BC and to combine attendance at this Symposium with a visit to one of the most beautiful and “livable” cities in the world is a unique opportunity for all. We hope you will join us.

?    One important reminder: Most of the German and European instrumentation and remedy companies close for the holiday season. Most will have their last day (and the office party) on December 18th and will not reopen until January 11th. Some will maintain a “skeleton” staff to handle emergencies but most of them will not be doing any major shipping or deliveries during that time.

So . . . if you need to get that end-of-the-year (for income tax purposes) purchase done – call within the next few days to place your orders. Orders received during the holiday period will be placed with the manufacturers as they reopen and will be shipped shortly after they reopen. Orders placed in mid-January can look for end of January delivery.

?    Speaking of holidays, it looks like our usual Christmas and holiday message will become a New Years message. We have been totally engrossed with preparations and arrangements for the forthcoming Symposium and thus the delay in the newsletter issue. I apologize for the delay and we will definitely get that great final issue of 2009 out to you early in the New Year. We are – as always – grateful that you have supported the Institute during the past year. We are looking forward to some time with our families and the offices will “officially” be closed December 24th and reopen on January 4th. Please send an e-mail or fax if you need to contact us during that time as I will be checking in regularly.

?    Updates and announcements:

Ø   Issue #6 of “The Bridge” will go out to all 2009 Members in early January. With it will be renewal information, Symposium details and probably some preliminary information on the next Germany Tour program.

Ø   Try to organize your end of the year instrumentation purchases before the Germans close for their Christmas Holidays.

Ø   Please watch your e-mails and the website (www.oirf.com) for details on the June 18-20, 2010 Symposium as well as Germany Tour #37.

With all best wishes, I respectfully remain . . .

Carolyn
